Ryan started his career with Carlson Tool & Manufacturing as a Vertical Machine Operator, moved onto a 5-axis machine and now works as a programmer. Regardless of his role, Ryan is assured no matter what job he may move to next, he will receive the proper training to keep him safe. Carlson Tool and Manufacturing tailors safety training to the specific job any employee may perform.
Nobody knows Jed’s machine like Jed does. So when he recognized the path inside his Horizontal Mill included a slippery surface that needed crossing regularly he brought it to the attention of one of our safety committees. Jed’s insight led to an engineered solution that keeps Jed, as well as the other operators safe.
As the General Manager, Ron is an integral part of the of our organization from top to bottom. Ron started his career with Carlson Tool & Manufacturing as a machine operator so he is well aware of the importance safety plays all the way down to the shop floor. Ron is so passionate about safety he wrote the book … literally, Ron wrote Carlson Tool & Manufacturing’s Safety Plan.
From top to bottom Carlson Tool & Manufacturing checks every nook and cranny, machine connection, chain, strap, hook and clevis for wear, defects or any other concern that might compromise the safety of our workforce. Our in-house safety experts also bring new employees with them on the inspections so they know what to look for right from the start. The findings are reported at our Employee Driven Safety Committees for analysis and resolution.
Every six months we re-train and remind our workforce about the importance of keeping safety in the forefront of our daily routines. Whether you are the CEO, a CNC Group Leader, Account Manager or 2nd Shift Housekeeper, safety is paramount in all of your duties and responsibilities.
Sometimes we need another perspective to make sure we didn’t miss anything. By using the expertise of a third party risk assessment consultant we gain insight into what we can do better to ensure the safety of our workforce. Carlson Tool & Manufacturing contracts bi-annual safety audits to gain the perspective of the experts and conducts semi-annual follow-up meetings with the auditors to ensure their findings have been addressed. Because when it comes to safety, there is no second best.
