As part of Carlson’s continuous goal to deliver the highest quality parts and services to our customers, we frequently invest in updating our procedures and certifications. One of our bigger changes recently was switching from an ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 certification.
What is it?
ISO 9001 is the world’s most popular and most commonly used standard for quality management systems. This edition of ISO 9001 concludes over three years of revision work by experts from nearly 95 participating and observing countries to bring the standard up to date with modern needs.
Acting ISO Secretary-General Kevin McKinley:
“ISO 9001 allows organizations to adapt to a changing world. It enhances an organization’s ability to satisfy its customers and provides a coherent foundation for growth and sustained success.”
How our customers benefit:
Chris Andersen, Carlson’s Quality Manager explains, “One of the biggest changes for us was a shift to more risk-based thinking… Improving our process approach, awareness, access and communications are really key pieces in our update… The boost in organizational knowledge will greatly help us achieve our first time correct policy in both our East and West plants.”
When does this change occur?
If you’re reading this after 8/13/18, we’ve already updated systems! Carlson is proud to announce there were no non-compliances when our quality systems audit was done, as many of the requirements Carlson had already been doing for some time.
