Our in-house high-performance injection molding press is used to verify injection molds are production ready. We utilize our customers’ established molding process parameters when available, or we can develop the process when required. Molds that require service and debugging can be sampled to help diagnose deficiencies and sampled again after service to verify our solutions.
Carlson offers mold sampling process simulation during the mold design phase to identify potential problems and develop solutions for our customers. The service can assist with important design decisions by quantifying the interplay between gating, shear heating, melt flow patterns, gas traps, unusual shrinkage, weld lines, cooling profile, pressure profiles, cycle time and other useful parameters.
The molding process and the resulting product results are always shared with our customers. Related process parameters such as water pressure and flow rates, air pressure, and temperatures are also discussed to ensure they are appropriate in the production environment. Dimensional verification of molded product can be evaluated by measuring a few critical features or by performing a complete dimensional inspection. We are capable of performing statistical analysis of molded products to verify process capability. Reporting formats are flexible and can be tailored to the needs of each customer. Cosmetic attributes are also evaluated to ensure the texture, surface finish and appearance are satisfactory. Molded product may also be checked to nest or fit with mating components to ensure your product launch is successful.
