According to a recent poll, 75% of injection molding companies across the US plan on increasing their hiring in 2018. Of the companies polled, only 5% said they did not plan to hire, with the remaining 20% undecided.
“The continued need to find skilled people to fill technical positions continues to outweigh the need to fill administrative and leadership positions…”
Another issue that ties in with a national increase in hiring is our aging workforce. Of the 120 U.S. Mold Makers AMBA surveyed, over 50% of the employees were 46 and over, meaning half of the workforce will be retiring in the next 10 – 15 years. With this large wave of retirees comes a large shortage of high skilled labor, leaving a massive skills gap for Mold Makers.
The silver lining? Now is the perfect time to jump into a career in mold making – with 50% of the workforce possessing high levels of skill and experience combined with a large increasing in demand, there’s no better time to get into a hot industry and receive top level training from qualified professionals, and Carlson is no exception!
